My first 10km run

Posted by: adriantan on: May 10, 2008

Overestimation of my own ability plus influence from Joe got me to apply for a 10km run that is organized by People’s Association.

The longest I had ever run was a 5km (or so I was told) when I was still serving my National Service. That was the first time both of my legs cramped up at the same time. You can’t stretch one without stressing the other. I guess that was turning point in my life to detest running.

But with the annual IPPT looming again, I had to force myself to run. And what better way to ensure that I wouldn’t flunk by 6 seconds again (that’s what happened last year) than to train myself to run even longer and further. If I could do that, 2.4km would be a piece of cake.

Training has been tough. It had to be done before dinner and gave me less time for my TVB drama series and GTA IV.

Tomorrow will be my first attempt to do a 10km. I pray I won’t have both legs cramped up again. At least not in too many public eyes.
