Having stayed in my present house for close to a year, you start to realise a lot of things.
First, housework is really a chore. It gets worse when you have limited use of your master hand.

And I seriously wonder why people still uses the non-standing vacuum cleaners! They seemed to be designed to irritate you as much as they could when you are trying to suck up dusts and hairs. They will overturn, the tubes would disconnect and when you finally get the momentum, you reached the length of the wire.
You gotta disconnect, find another power outlet and go through the same phrase all over.
Which makes me extremely misses and appreciate my robot vacuum cleaner. Too bad the battery is dead and I am contemplating over getting the newer version or just get a new battery. I think I better make up my mind soon.

In cleaning my house every week, I also came to realize that there are many things I would rather have done differently. Things that would make my weekly cleaning a smoother process. So that my house will be more like a pair of jeans (wash-and-wear, and not wash for months), rather than a pair of over-priced, forever crumpled working pants.
1) Off-white homogenous floor tiles. Oh yeah, they look so nice and shimmery. But being so shimmery, you can spot a hair on the floor a mile away. And having two dogs in my house now makes that lots and lots of hair. It even makes mopping extreme tough. Watermarks are very obvious and that sort of take away the original attractiveness of the tiles in the first place.
I would rather: Have black floor tiles or just leave it in raw cement. That might let me drag my weekly cleaning to bi-monthly instead.
2) Glass-topped dining table. Watermarks, nuff said.
3) Leather-wrapped coffee table. When I got this, my perception is this is gonna be very resistant to dust and marks. I’m wrong, on both count. And the thing about leather is that when you have a stain that you ignored for too long, you are gonna have it there forever.
4) Shiny surfaced stuff. For me it’s my TV and home theater system. Dust magnet.
5) Carpets. They are toilets for dogs and you would always feel that all of the remaining aren’t totally gone even though you used enough cleaner and disinfectant to clean a hospital. Beside, they are extremely hard to clean.
There are a lot more stuffs that I wouldn’t have in my new home but they didn’t really bother me that much during the cleaning process.
What’s the things you wouldn’t have in your new home?

Or… just be like me and just don’t give a flying f*ck anymore about how pristine everything must look/resale value/etc and just live in the house and be happy even if there’s dust and stains everywhere.
Like the PTI’s say in the Army, its all in the mind man, its all in the mind…
