I always go through seasonal preference of a particular kind of food. And sometime even to the extreme that I could have it every single day.
There was once I just fell in love with the Ipoh Hor Fun at the old Tampines Mall food court. I had it for like 5 straight dinners.
It happened with Tanjong Pagar Nasi Lemak, Lor Mee at Loyang and the Wanton Mee at Telok Ayer. The last one has unfortunately moved or closed down.
Right now the flavor of the period for me is…….. GADO GADO~~!
I must confess. I only tried it for the first time after close to 30 years of my life. How I regret not opening my eyes much earlier.
The peanuts sauce poured generously over boiled cabbage, bean sports, potato, egg and topped over with keropo.
I just had half a portion of it. I would love to finish the whole thing but I bought it even though I had a dinner that consists of Nasi Ayam Penyet, Satay and washed down with Sugarcane juice.
Now I am on the lookout for the best Gado Gado I could find in Singapore. The best so far should be the one at Joo Chiat.
Any suggestions?

Yay, so glad that there’s someone else who likes gado gado too. BTW, check out this video of how gado gado is prepared in Indonesia (its country of origin): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1MfDJU8peA
Most of the gado gado i’ve tasted in Singapore are a little too sweet for my taste. I think the best possible gado gado is the one you make yourself. Super fresh vegetables, and you can put whatever you want in it, however spicy or sweet you want it.
